3D printed model of boat back in July.. Helped visualize the proportions

All trailered up and ready for first sail. Looks like something from Waterworld

My new friend Lars in Sweden turned me on to this idea. Connecting shrouds to waterstays. I like the idea of only having to tension one set of stays... We'll see how it goes!

Forward hatch coming together.

Centerboard well laminated into the cockpit sole.

Waterstay mounts.

Underside of cockpit showing fillet where cockpit is laminated to hull.

Session 33

  •  Hours: 1.5
  • Total Hours: 70.75
  1. Lot's of fiddling around today. Getting the amas in exact position.
  2. Tried a few different ways to slide tubes. Tried 'runner' strips running the length of the beam as well as the ring style bushings. Rings seem to work better for final positioning. Also tried a few materials. The PVC wound up being too soft. Going to laminate 3 3/4" pine pieces (2.25" total) leaving 1/16" for glass. Going to go back to the same as on rowcruiser with one outside piece and one on the end of tube.
  3. Next time around. Will work from the center out. Order would be:
    1. Build tube assemblies with tight bushings.
    2. Mount main tube to main hull aft
    3. Mount main tube forward
    4. Add ama mounts to beam assemblies.
    5. Cut out landing space on amas to have some play.
    6. Line everything up and laminate ama mounts to amas.
    7. I think :)
Going to pass on the float this weekend and get the rig up.. Want to lay out the blocks so I can re-enforce with good access to all areas still. Made that mistake before!

  3. Added fillets between to the ama beam mounts
  4. Fitted cockpit
